about this publication

Abstract: Small steps are being taken by women in the Yuendumu community to improve not only their health but to strengthen their community, with a little encouragement and support from the Heart Foundation. Heart Foundation Walking is Australia's largest network of free community-based walking groups and the women members of Yuendumu Heart Foundation Walking are one such group. The women joined for health reasons but soon realised that walking not only helps in maintaining good health, it also meets their cultural needs of connecting with family and community.
