Abstract: The story of the work of elders in the remote Northern Territory community of Yuendumu to save young lives from the ravages of petrol sniffing, which helped to turn the fortunes of the village around. The efforts of tribal elder Johnny Hooker Creek, who made a significant contribution to the work, are highlighted.
