The Health Care Team Challenge: Extra-curricula Engagement in Inter-professional Education (IPE)

Focus on Health Professional Education: A Multi-disciplinary Journal
Volume 8 Issue 3 (Mar 2007)

Abstract: In Australia, the 2004 National Health Workforce Strategic Framework recognised the need for collaborative team-based approaches to the management of health issues, including the importance of interdisciplinary training and practice (Australian Health Ministers' Conference 2004). One of the key points of the 2006 Productivity Commission report, 'Australia's Health Workforce', is that university-based education needs to adjust to the changing demands of those receiving and delivering health care in order to promote the efficiency and effectiveness of the workforce (Australia Productivity Commission 2005).
