Planting a seed and watching it blossom - koori community kitchen making a difference

Abstract: The Koori Community Kitchen project was set up to reduce the factors associated with food insecurity amongst Aboriginal families in Airds, NSW. A partnership between Tharawal Aboriginal Corporation (TAC), an Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Service in Airds, South West Sydney and the Health Promotion Service, South Western Sydney and Sydney Local Health D istrict, NSW Health identified the issue and worked together with the community on this project. This article discusses the model used to engage the local community and implement the program and shares the experiences of the participants.
